On October 19, 2024, BTM Brass Band had the honour of performing at St Martin's Church in Caerphilly, in a special concert organised by the St David's Hospice Care Caerphilly Support Group. The evening was filled with uplifting music, camaraderie, and a shared purpose to support a wonderful cause.
Our band members poured their hearts into the performance, delivering a selection of pieces that resonated with the audience and celebrated the spirit of community. It was truly moving to see so many people come together to support the vital work of St David's Hospice Care, which provides exceptional care and support to those in need.
The concert programme included themed sections, including "Welsh" and the "Wild West", as well as a wide variety of music - everything from the ballet Swan Lake to American rock/pop covers, with brass band classics such as "Castell Caerffili" and Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral (both very apt choices!) thrown in for good measure.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Caerphilly Support Group for their hard work and dedication in organising this event, as well as to everyone who attended and contributed to the cause. Your support makes a significant difference in the lives of those facing challenging times.
Our next engagement actually begins at this venue - the Caerphilly Remembrance Parade on Sunday 10 November, when we'll lead the Parade from St Martin's Church down to Caerphilly Cenotaph. It's always a great honour to lead this annual Parade.
The next public performances for the full band will take place over the weekend of Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 November, where we'll be competing at two separate contests:
Saturday 23 - Autumn Festival 2024 at Tonyrefail
Sunday 24 - GBBA Autumn Contest (Test-Piece & Own-Choice Test Piece)
20/10/24
